Dawn Eisele and Patricia Pillon of Hamilton School will oversee
their fourth grade students in creating Bridgewaters first "Litter Free School
Zone." Their plan also includes expanding the school recycling program, campus
gardening and beautification and students instructing their peers in the cafeteria on
principle recycling and composting behaviors.
Adamsville School and their second grade class, led by teacher Cathy
Pavlovski, will be implementing a comprehensive environmental enrichment program. The team
looks to increase recycling at the many campus athletic fields and in the cafeteria, while
recording weights and contents. The data recorded will be given to students to perform
mathematical analysis of the program, increasing its efficiency and giving students
"real life situation" practice skills.
Lastly, Brandon T. Myers of Bradley Gardens School, and his
teammates from the Bridgewater Baseball program look to "Green" the baseball
diamonds at the Prince Rodgers Baseball Complex. Brandon has planned novel designs for
recycling containers at the ball park to increase exposure and the amount of recycled
materials.
The groups will be presenting their results at next years
Earth Day Event. They have until that time to put in place their programs and begin
Greening our Community one day at a time. We would like to thank the New Jersey Clean
Communities Program for making this contest possible. For more information on the Clean
Communities Program or on the Bridgewater Environmental Challenge please feel free to
contact Bridgewater Environmental Officer John Falcone at 908 725 6300 est. 258. Once
again, we at Bridgewater Township are very proud of our young contributors and very
impressed by the amount of passion and creativity they have shown. We look forward to
seeing their projects come to fruition.
