Large Bird Houses

Large Bird Houses. Keith McWhorter and Troop 154 built the large bird boxes located at various locations along the trail in November 2000. His project consisted of research, review of the environments along the trail, obtaining materials for, and construction and installation of the birdhouses. Boxes were provided for: kestrels (1), screech owls (3), saw-whet owls (2), barred owls (4), barn owls (4), northern flickers (4), and woodpeckers (4). He also prepared a book with a location map and photo of each birdhouse, and standard plans. A copy of his book is included as an appendix.
