Gregs Boardwalks & Bridges. Greg Merten and Troop 41 cleared about 1,600 feet of
trail starting at the intersection and running west. He also constructed two 10-foot
bridges and about 60 feet of boardwalk and ramp. This work was done in February of 2000
just after an ice storm.
There have been reports of Bank Swallows (Riparia riperia) in this area. Bank Swallows
nest in colonies made by burrowing into banks, where they brood three to six eggs. They
are about 4.5 inches long, with the typical swallows streamlined wings and tail but
have a narrow brown band across a white throat. The diet of these birds is a huge variety
of insects. They spend April through August in the northern states.
