General Information: Middle Brook Vs. Middlebrook

You will see in various publications about the area the names Middlebrook and Middle Brook. There was a hamlet called Middlebrook located about where Thompson Avenue meets Route 28 in Bound Brook. However, The official flood study and USGS maps refer to the stream as the Middle Brook, and nobody calls the Raritan River the Raritanriver.

For purposes of this book we use Middle Brook to refer to the stream and the trail along it and Middlebrook for anything associated with the hamlet or the campground, but the names seem to be interchangeable. Please don’t ask what the brook is in the middle of.
