Tullo Road

Tullo Road. This road was shown on the 1850 Otley & Keily Map of Somerset County. It once ran all the way from Newmans Lane through to Washington Valley Road. It was referred to in deeds as the "road leading from the first Mountain to the Washington Valley Road" as recently as 1979.

The 1850 map shows the names Boyles, Tucker, and Van Nest along its length. By 1873 Hoffman had replaced Boyles as living on the opposite side of the road from Van Nest who remained on the east side of the road north of the brook. The other 1850 names are not shown but the names Bedle and Kale appear.

Presently Tullo Road is in three sections. Tullo Road and Old Tullo Road follow sections of the original course. However the middle section, Tullo Farm Road, is a modern layout. The Laurel Rise subdivision shows the old course, which is through and behind the homes on the southerly side of the present road.

On the east side of Tullo Road is a fourteen-acre property purchased by the Township for $354,875 from Ray Kolvites.
