This photograph was taken in 1964 during a period of rapid development in Washington
Valley. The main road near the center of the picture is Mountaintop Road, Mount Vernon
Road is near the right side. Note the orchards above Washington Valley Road. Chen’s
Pond near the center of the picture marks the western end of the present trail.
